Blue Bell PH Wrinehill
The Blue Bell Public House in Wrinehill closed some years ago and in recent years the building has deteriorated.
Although the sites lies within Greenbelt, it is an important gateway to the settlement of Wrinehill.
Following an unsuccessful marketing exercise, discussions are ongoing with the local Parish Council and Newcastle BC on finding an alternative use for the site.
Picea Design has prepared a scheme for 10 no. dwellings, made up of 8 no. 2 bed cottages and 2 no. feature apartments on the prominent corner of the site.
The scheme will provide small units that will be attractive to a wide range of people, be they young couples looking for a first house or retirees looking to downsize.
Although the units will be offered on the open market, an element of the development is likely to be 'affordable units' managed by a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) such as a local Housing Association.
Subject to further negotiations, it is likely that a formal Planning Application will be submitted to Newcastle BC in the New Year.
