Brownlow Inn Brownlow
Our client needed to update the kitchen area and improve storage provision for this established business in Brownlow near Congleton.
The public house/ restaurant is located in greenbelt and therefore the expansion of the built form needed to be approached in a sensitive manner.
An assessment of the historic maps for the village revealed that the area currently used as an open yard to the side of the public house had previously been the siting of a cottage of a similar scale to the cottage adjacent to the car park entrance.
Working with Stewart Thorley, of Building Plans & Design, Pre-App discussions were held with Cheshire East Council to present the principle of achieving the additional space within a building of a similar scale and design of the former cottage.
The Council supported this principle through to a successful Planning Approval.
The project is now completed and the form of the resultant streetscene is now very much in keeping with the previous historic context.
Picea Design are currently working with the same client on an expansion project for another public house/restaurant near Macclesfield.
